Almost 10% of the population of the country has been completely Covid-19 vaccinated. With the Covid-19 vaccination program underway across the United States, the authorities have started winding back the face mask guidelines for fully vaccinated passengers. On Monday, the CDC relaxed its face mask guidelines for the vaccinated population. It is said to be good news for the airlines and airline industry.
Travelers should not expect any immediate changes in the face mask rules across American airlines. On Monday, CDC updated the public health guidelines for the fully vaccinated people relax the laws in three ways.
The second rule is that the fully vaccinated people can visit unvaccinated people from a single household at low risk for severe Covid-19 indoors even without social distancing or masks. Finally, fully Covid-19 vaccinated people can refrain from quarantine and testing following a known exposure. This is applicable only if they are asymptomatic.
Apart from these rules, the CDC says everybody should follow the face mask rules as usual. The CDC recommends people continue wearing face masks in public spaces. All the airport terminals are included in this. Moving around with groups of unvaccinated people from multiple households can also be dangerous. It is like a typical aircraft passenger cabin, where people are from different places and families. It is better everybody continues to wear masks and maintain physical distancing for their own safety.
