Large-scale data leaks have become almost a rite of passage for new social networks. If Clubhouse wasn’t part of the before then it is now. Nearly 1.3 million users data was leaked.
To consider the technical aspect that was accurate, but the result is still that the data is now available in a collected and searchable format when it wasn’t before. It adds a question as to why this information was included in Clubhouse’s API. Things like real names and the user IDs of those who invited them to the app could be considered important enough to keep behind some kind of digital lock.
Cyber News reported that personal data for 500 million LinkedIn users had been scraped and posted online. The Microsoft-owned company said that no private member account data from LinkedIn was included in the leak. Another social media giant personal data for some 533 million Facebook users was leaked online for free. The Leak included users’ phone numbers, birthdates, locations, email addresses, and full names.
